Family Therapy differs from Individual Therapy in that it focuses on the relationship rather than self. These therapies may be referred to as systemic therapy, family systems therapy, marriage counselling, or family therapy, just as in couple and marriage therapies. In focusing on how people relate to each other and why in their relationships, they can come to explore new positive ways of relating as well as feeling respected and valued.

Again, a family may have a specific issue or event they may want support in working through or simply in strengthening their relationship or family. This type of therapy is not always about addressing what is wrong or not working, but gaining understanding and new ways of communicating and relating.

Wild Hope Counselling and Consulting also understands that families can face transitions for both voluntary and involuntary reasons. In understanding families have diverse needs and phases, we also offer Families In Transition Sessions.
